ABERDEEN DOMESTIC ABUSER JAILED AFTER ROW LEFT WOMAN WITH BROKEN NOSE
William Duncan, 47, of Bedford Road in Aberdeen, has been jailed for assaulting his partner and making threats to kill her after breaking her nose during a violent outburst.
Duncan appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court to be sentenced and requested house arrest, but Sheriff Iain Wallace sentenced him to 15 months’ imprisonment due to his extensive history of violence and prior custodial sentences.
The court heard Duncan assaulted the woman at an address in Aberdeenshire on November 22 last year, sparked by a dispute over music.
Duncan forcefully punched her on the head, dragged her around the living room, and shouted threats to kill her.
The woman sustained a broken nose, bruises, and head injuries.
Duncan was found in the living room and admitted to the charges, claiming self-defence.
He also threatened a police officer during arrest.
His lawyer mentioned cognitive effects from a 2020 brain injury, and Duncan acknowledged his guilt.
The sheriff emphasized the seriousness of the assault and imposed a 15-month sentence and a 12-month contact ban.
