According to court proceedings, Belk was accused of attacking a woman inside her flat located in Wester Hailes, Edinburgh.
During the assault, he attempted to cover her face with a cushion, an act that demonstrated a clear intent to suffocate or incapacitate her.
However, the woman resisted fiercely, which ultimately caused Belk to abandon his assault.
