ROMFORD MAN WALKS FREE AFTER IMPORTING CHILD SEX DOLL, KEEPS TWO OTHERS AT HOME
Wesley Clarke, a 43-year-old man from Romford, was involved in importing a child sex doll that was intercepted at Stansted Airport. The doll was estimated to resemble a 10-year-old child.
Clarke was caught by Border Force officers and subsequently appeared before the Old Bailey, where he walked free after the judge decided not to impose a separate penalty for the importation offence, citing a legal loophole concerning possession of childlike sex dolls.
Despite the doll being seized, Clarke was found with two additional childlike dolls at his home, which he may retain since no order for their forfeiture or destruction was made.
The police also discovered children's clothing and hundreds of prohibited cartoons and indecent images, including materials involving real children.
Clarke admitted to purchasing the doll from a Chinese company named 'LoveDolls' for £700, claiming it only looked like a child due to his selection based on size and breast size.
Under police pressure, he later expressed a sexual interest in uniforms and schoolchildren.
Clarke faced multiple charges, including importing the doll, distributing indecent images, and possessing prohibited materials.
He pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to an 18-month community order, including participation in substance abuse and sexual harm prevention programs.
The judge acknowledged that possessing the dolls isn't illegal per se but indicated that the case provided some insight into Clarke's sexual interests.
Clarke's offences included the distribution of indecent images involving real children and possession of large quantities of illegal material.
Authorities highlighted that while child sex dolls aren't inherently illegal, their importation and related activities violate specific regulations, with historical cases emphasizing the legal view of such dolls as obscene items.
