In a disturbing incident that unfolded late at night near Windsor Close, Wayne Tack, a man with a troubling criminal history, was involved in a violent and threatening assault that left a lasting impact on his victim. The events began when Tack approached a woman walking alone in an alleyway, an area known for its quiet, residential character. Without warning, he forcibly dragged her to the ground, threatening to carry out a sexual assault unless she handed over her handbag. The woman, showing remarkable resilience, fought back by biting Tack, which caused him to bleed and ultimately led to his identification by the police.Wayne Tack, aged 29 and a resident of West Heath, has a criminal record that includes a previous sex attack where he broke into a woman's home, as well as a series of indecent exposure offenses. His past crimes cast a long shadow over the recent assault, highlighting a pattern of disturbing behavior. During the attack near Longbridge railway station, the victim, a 25-year-old woman, was walking home after her shift when she was suddenly confronted. She heard footsteps behind her, and before she could react, Tack covered her mouth to silence her and dragged her into the shadows of the alley.
According to prosecutor Samantha Forsythe, Tack then committed a sexual assault on the woman, who sustained cuts and bruises during the struggle. The assault was interrupted when the woman managed to bite Tack, causing him to bleed and giving police a crucial clue to his identity. The police quickly responded and located Tack, who was subsequently charged with multiple offenses.
During the court proceedings, Tack pleaded guilty to charges of robbery and sexual assault. Judge Phillip Parker QC sentenced him to an indeterminate prison term, emphasizing the severity of the crime. The judge described the incident as 'every woman's nightmare' and expressed that the victim had been traumatized anew by the attack. The sentencing reflects the gravity of Tack's actions and the ongoing concern about public safety in the Windsor Close area.
