WAYNE RITCHIE FROM HURLFORD JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE AT KILWINNING HEALTH CENTRE

In August 2013, a disturbing case involving a wheelchair-bound sex offender from Hurlford, Ayrshire, came to light when he was sentenced for multiple instances of sexual assault at a healthcare facility. Wayne Ritchie, who is a registered sex offender, was found to have repeatedly targeted a disabled woman over a span of five years at the Dirrans Head Injury Rehab Centre located on Dirrans Terrace.

According to court records, between January 2008 and January 2013, Ritchie engaged in a series of inappropriate and criminal acts against the same woman. On several occasions, he would deliberately obstruct her path using his wheelchair, a method he employed to approach her. Once in close proximity, he would inappropriately handle her breasts, actions that constitute serious sexual assault.

Ritchie's actions were brought to justice when he pled guilty at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court in July. The court proceedings revealed the extent of his misconduct, which had caused significant distress to the victim. On the day of sentencing, which took place on a Tuesday, Ritchie was formally sentenced for his crimes.

As he exited the court after receiving his sentence, Ritchie displayed a shocking lack of remorse by blowing a kiss towards a 17-year-old girl who was present as a victim of domestic abuse. This act further underscored the troubling nature of his conduct and attitude towards his crimes and victims.
