WAYNE HAYWOOD SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN GROBY AND COALVILLE

In a significant case that has drawn considerable attention, Wayne Haywood, a 48-year-old resident of Lime Avenue in Groby, has been sentenced to eight years in prison following his conviction for multiple sexual offenses.

The crimes, which took place over a period of time, involved the sexual assault of a girl who was only 15 years old at the time of the incidents.

Haywood's trial was held at Leicester Crown Court, where a jury found him guilty on three counts of sexual assault on a female and two counts of assaulting a female over the age of 13 by penetration.

The court's decision reflects the severity of his actions and the impact on the victim, who has since come forward to report the abuse.

The victim, now an adult, initially reported the abuse in June 2018.

She disclosed to police that the misconduct had begun approximately a year earlier, when she was still a minor.

Her account detailed repeated inappropriate touching by Haywood at an address in Coalville, as well as multiple instances of him kissing her.

She emphasized that these incidents occurred when they were alone together, and despite her pleas for him to stop, Haywood continued his abusive behavior.

Following his conviction, Haywood was not only sentenced to a lengthy prison term but also placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Additionally, he is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which is designed to restrict his activities and prevent further harm.

The case underscores the importance of reporting abuse and the justice system's role in protecting vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior.
