BRAZILIAN MAN DENIES SEXUALLY ASSAULTING GIRLS IN COURT
A man from Brazil has refuted accusations of sexually abusing two young girls nearly two decades ago.Walter Klen, residing on Eynsham Road in Farmoor, is currently standing trial at Oxford Crown Court.
The 60-year-old defendant denies a total of 17 charges linked to two alleged victims.
Of these, 15 charges relate to a girl who was approximately nine to 13 years old between 2003 and 2007.
The remaining two accusations concern another girl around the year 2008, when she was about 12 years old.
The first set of 15 charges are said to have occurred in Moreton-In-Marsh in the Cotswolds, while the last two are alleged to have taken place in Chipping Norton.
On Monday, June 8, Klen appeared as a witness in court.
His defence lawyer, Philip Romans, questioned him about the specific allegations.
When asked whether the incidents had indeed occurred, Klen responded, "No, never." He was also asked about an accusation that he had sexually touched one of the girls beneath a blanket, to which he replied, "How could that have happened?
Any movement would have been visible.
It didn't happen." Regarding why he believed the allegations were made, Klen stated, "I don't know.
She has completely changed the version of events." Prosecutor Richard Milne previously outlined the case for the jury, informing them that Klen moved to the UK from Brazil around 2003.
Concerning the first complainant, Mr.
Milne explained that she claimed to have been sexually abused over several years, starting when she was quite young.
He detailed her account, stating that she said Klen was in a bedroom with her and her sister, and at one point, he played a porn film, lay naked on the bed, and touched himself.
She reportedly was asked to touch his private parts, feeling scared and unsure of how to respond.
The prosecutor added that on another occasion, Klen was seen wearing a dressing gown without anything underneath, and the girl recalled that he was touching himself.
He allegedly made her lie on the bed with him on top, with the gown open.
It was also alleged that Klen wanted her to kiss his genital area, with Mr.
Milne saying, "He brushed his penis against her private parts.
She said it was a very odd feeling." Klen reportedly described this act as "just a game." The jury was also informed of several other alleged similar incidents.
Regarding the second complainant, it was claimed that Klen unzipped his trousers and placed her hand on his private parts.
Klen was detained and questioned in 2023, during which he denied the charges.
The trial is ongoing.
