DOVER MAN JAILED FOR CHRISTMAS DAY RAPE
A man named Tudor Tofoi, aged 21, from High Street in Dover, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the brutal rape of a woman on Christmas Day.The assault occurred in the early hours of December 25th when she was walking along Castle Street after an evening out.
According to reports, she was forcibly dragged into a garage area in Stembrook by two men.
One of these men was identified as Romanian-born Tudor Tofoi.
After the incident, Tofoi left the country but was brought back to the UK by his mother prior to his arrest.
He was found guilty on July 8 at Canterbury Crown Court and was ordered to serve at least 10 years before being eligible for parole.
He will also be on license for an additional three years and remains on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Det Insp Lee Whitehead of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate described the attack as "violent and cowardly on a vulnerable lady." Furthermore, police are working with the Crown Prosecution Service to return a second suspect to the UK, as they are known to each other.
Tofoi’s sentence specifies that he must serve a minimum of 10 years before parole consideration, and he will be under supervision on release for three more years.
