TREVOR REECE FROM BLACKWATER JAILED FOR ABDUCTION AND SEXUAL OFFENSES IN GUILDFORD
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Trevor Reece, a resident of Blackwater, was sentenced to prison for his involvement in the abduction and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl. The incident unfolded in February 2011, revealing a series of troubling events that culminated in his conviction and sentencing.According to court proceedings, Reece first encountered his young victim while he was parked in a lay-by in Frimley. The court heard that he then took her to a nearby chip shop before engaging in sexual activity with her inside his van. The situation escalated when Reece took the girl away from her family for a period of four days in March of the previous year, during which he continued to have sexual contact with her.
The police launched an extensive search after the girl was reported missing. During their investigation, authorities tracked her to a lay-by in Windlesham, where she and Reece were spotted together. When officers arrived to arrest Reece and recover the girl, she reportedly protested, claiming she was in love with him and that they were engaged. However, the girl later changed her stance, expressing that recalling her relationship with Reece made her feel sick and distressed.
Further investigations into Reece’s activities uncovered a disturbing collection of child pornography. Police searched his residence on Rosemary Gardens in Blackwater and discovered nearly 6,000 images of children in various categories, including the most severe and obscene Category 5 images. Reece admitted to making and possessing indecent images of children, but he denied the charges related to abducting and sleeping with the girl, claiming she had told him she was over 16 at the time.
Reece’s trial lasted four days in January, culminating in a jury verdict of guilty on multiple counts. His defense attorney, Richard Button, argued that the girl was close to her sixteenth birthday when the offenses occurred and that she had gone with Reece willingly. He also expressed confusion over Reece’s possession of the child porn images, stating that his client was eager to understand his own behavior and had no attraction to children.
Sentencing took place at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday, February 17. Reece was sentenced to two years and three months in prison for three counts of sexual activity with a child under 17, and an additional two years and three months for abducting the girl, with both sentences to run concurrently. Additionally, he received a 15-month sentence for 25 charges related to possessing and creating indecent images of children, categorized from Category 1 to 5. The sentences for abduction and images possession will be served consecutively, totaling three years and six months.
Upon release, Reece will be required to register as a sex offender for life and will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order. The order prohibits him from owning a computer or mobile device capable of internet access and bans him from contacting females under 18 or viewing images of minors unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior.
