TREVER HADDOCK FROM AMBLESIDE SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE IN WORCESTER

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Trevor Haddock, a man from Ambleside, Worcester, was convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a young girl. The abuse spanned over five years, beginning when the girl was just five years old, and was carried out by Haddock, who initially appeared to be a trusted family friend.

Haddock, who was once perceived as a kind and caring individual, betrayed that trust in the most appalling manner. The victim, now only 11 years old, was subjected to repeated acts of sexual violence, which she was so traumatized by that she could only disclose the details by writing them down. Her mother, who is in her late twenties, expressed her horror and heartbreak, stating, “Haddock is sick. He is disgusting. I look at that photo and want to be physically ill.”

The mother recounted that they had never suspected Haddock’s true nature until the police intervened. She explained, “She never said anything to us. The first we knew was when the police told us. I sat her down and asked her. She broke down in tears. It had been going on at least once a week since she was five or six.”

Haddock’s betrayal extended beyond the abuse itself. He groomed the young girl to gain her trust, only to subject her to a series of horrific acts. The victim was forcibly raped multiple times, and Haddock’s depravity knew no bounds. He even posted disturbing details about her online, offering her to other paedophiles for a fee of £150. His cruelty did not stop there; he forced her to smoke cannabis, supplied her with alcohol, and administered sleeping tablets to keep her subdued. In one particularly chilling incident, he placed a carrier bag over her head until she lost consciousness.

The police investigation uncovered a paedophile ring involving Haddock and three other individuals. Their crimes came to light after graffiti was discovered on a train lavatory door, which contained explicit messages seeking girls aged eight to 13 for sex. This evidence led authorities to arrest Haddock and his accomplices.

Haddock, a former security guard, was brought before Hove Crown Court in East Sussex, where he was sentenced to six life terms. The judge ordered that he must serve a minimum of 12 years before being eligible for parole. The court heard that Haddock was responsible for abusing seven girls in total, with the young victim being one of the youngest.

The girl’s parents expressed their devastation and disbelief. Her mother said, “We had looked up to Haddock. He came across as this good, caring man. He abused our trust. I went to see him in court and on one occasion he seemed to be smiling and laughing.” Her father added, “We’ve known him a long time. He came across as warm and caring and had a knack of befriending people. Our daughter has found it very difficult to talk about it. We gave her a notebook and she’d write it down. I just couldn’t believe we once let him cradle her in his arms.”

The community and the families involved are left grappling with the horror of Haddock’s actions, and the court’s verdict serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and safeguarding vulnerable children from predators.
