TREVA THROWER SENTENCED TO 32 YEARS FOR CHILD RAPE IN LONDON AND BROMLEY
A man has been handed a severe prison sentence of 32 years after being convicted of heinous crimes involving a minor in the London area.Treva Thrower, aged 45 and born on August 11, 1977, residing in Beckenham, faced justice at Croydon Crown Court on Monday, 12 September, following a thorough trial.
The court had previously found Thrower guilty on Wednesday, 25 May, of nine serious charges that included the rape of a child under the age of 13, sexual assault of a child under 13, and deliberately inciting or causing a young girl to engage in sexual activity.
These appalling acts took place over a span of years, from 2014 to 2018, at the victim’s residence in Bromley.
During the trial, evidence revealed that Thrower not only physically assaulted the girl if she resisted his advances but also took explicit photographs of her.
Threatening her with further harm, Thrower warned that he would upload these images on the internet if she disclosed the abuse to anyone.
His coercive tactics were designed to silence her, making her fear to speak out.
The victim eventually confided in her school about the abuse in 2019, which prompted an investigation by officers from the Metropolitan Police Service's Specialist Crime team.
After the allegations came to light, Thrower initially went into hiding, evading police by deleting all data from his mobile phone.
However, he later surrendered himself to law enforcement authorities.
Detective Constable Tracey Brocklesby, who led the investigation, expressed her outrage and emphasized the severity of the crime.
She stated, “This prison term reflects the horror this child went through at the hands of Thrower.
Throughout his trial he provided no account to the court and was both disruptive and manipulative throughout the proceedings, causing unnecessary distress to this very brave victim.” Thrower’s sentencing also includes lifelong registration as a sex offender and the imposition of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
These measures aim to prevent any future offending and to monitor his activities closely.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement in London to protect vulnerable children from sexual abuse and to ensure that perpetrators face the full weight of justice for their actions.
