TONY SMALL FROM BOSHAM REARRESTED IN DURHAM FOR SEXUAL COMMUNICATIONS WITH 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a recent development, Tony Small, a man previously convicted of sex offences in Bosham, has been taken back into custody after police uncovered evidence that he had been communicating with an individual he believed to be an 11-year-old girl. The incident took place in Durham, where Small resides, and highlights ongoing concerns about the behavior of convicted sex offenders even after their initial sentencing.According to police reports, officers received credible information indicating that Small was engaging in conversations of a sexual and explicit nature with what he thought was an underage girl. This information prompted a swift investigation by the local CID unit in Peterlee. Following a thorough 24-hour inquiry, authorities confirmed that Small was indeed communicating with a decoy posing as an 11-year-old girl. The messages exchanged were of a sexual nature, which led to his immediate arrest in Peterlee on April 28.
After his arrest, Small was charged with incitement to engage in sexual activity and a breach of his existing Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The police reports indicate that the messages he sent were explicit and inappropriate, raising serious concerns about his compliance with court-imposed restrictions. Small was subsequently remanded in custody while awaiting further legal proceedings.
On Wednesday, May 5, Small appeared in court and pleaded guilty to all charges brought against him. His guilty plea comes ahead of his sentencing scheduled for June 1. The case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to monitor and apprehend individuals who violate court orders designed to protect minors from exploitation and abuse.
It is noteworthy that Small's criminal history includes a previous conviction in Bosham, where he was sentenced in September 2018 for multiple sex offences. At that time, he was 37 years old and resided on Main Road, Bosham. His prior convictions involved ten separate offences, which included attempts to engage in sexual communication with girls aged 13 to 15, attempts to cause them to watch sexual acts, and attempts to induce them to engage in sexual activities. These offences were committed against three different victims, none of whom were from Sussex, and resulted in an 18-month prison sentence handed down by Portsmouth Crown Court.
Authorities have expressed concern over Small's repeated offending behavior, emphasizing the importance of strict monitoring and enforcement of court orders to prevent further harm to minors. His case remains a stark reminder of the persistent threat posed by convicted sex offenders and the necessity for vigilant law enforcement and community awareness.
