BOREHAMWOOD MAN SENTENCED FOR LIFE IN HORRIFIC TEEN MURDER
Tony Bushby, aged 19 and from Borehamwood, was convicted of the murder of Catherine Wynter in Borehamwood on December 26.
The court proceedings revealed that Bushby repeatedly stabbed Ms.
Wynter, a 19-year-old babysitter, resulting in a total of 23 stab wounds, 13 of which were considered significant.
The killing was motivated by a sexual reason, with Judge Andrew Bright stating that Bushby 'found sexual excitement from inflicting knife wounds on her,' specifically targeting her thighs.
In an effort to cover up his actions, Bushby created four fake friends on Facebook, constructing a false image of support and attempting to mislead investigators.
Bloodstains discovered in his residence were claimed by him to be from gloves belonging to one of these fictitious individuals.
He also claimed that a false persona named 'Dan Tress' was responsible for the murder.
Despite his efforts to hide evidence, he was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 25 years before eligible for parole.
The court emphasized the premeditation and manipulation involved in the crime, notably his creation of fake online identities to deceive Ms.
Wynter and avoid detection.
