COMPULSIVE LIAR WHO MADE FALSE RAPE CLAIMS AND LIED ABOUT HAVING TERMINAL CANCER IS JAILED
A woman known for compulsive dishonesty has been sentenced to prison after she fabricated rape allegations and forged medical documents claiming she was terminally ill with cancer.Tina Williamson received a sentence exceeding three years for offenses that a judge described as undermining the core principles of the criminal justice system and harming genuine victims.
The 28-year-old accused a man of rape, prompting a police investigation that lasted approximately a month.
During that period, Williamson sent multiple text messages, seemingly from the accused to her partner, with statements such as “I’m sure I can rape her again.” She attempted to conceal her phone number using a specialized app; however, authorities linked the messages to her email address and internet provider.
Williamson also contacted police three times in a single day to report the text interactions and claimed an unidentified man wearing a black hoodie had entered her home.
Prosecutor Samuel Faulks stated: “The Crown considers this a calculated and sustained series of lies demonstrating premeditation and a lack of concern for her partner and the justice system.” She eventually confessed to attempting to obstruct justice.
Ahead of her sentencing, Williamson submitted two doctors’ notes claiming she had terminal cancer.
These letters turned out to be carefully forged in an effort to avoid incarceration.
Further investigation into the forged documents revealed a doctor’s assessment indicating Williamson suffers from an emotionally unstable personality disorder characterized by impulsive behavior without regard for consequences.
The same doctor stated she was also aware of her actions and fully in control.
Defense attorney Annelise Haugstad acknowledged the deceit was obvious and believed Williamson’s vulnerability due to past domestic abuse and bullying should be taken into account.
Judge Howard Crowson addressed Williamson directly, stating: “You are fundamentally a compulsive liar.” He emphasized that such offenses threaten the foundations of the criminal justice system.
The judge stressed the importance of prison sentences in these cases as a means to discourage similar behavior in others.
Williamson, residing on Eighth Street in Blackhall Colliery, was sentenced to 38 months in prison.
