STAPLEHURST PAEDOPHILE TIMOTHY WITHEY SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCES AND INDECENT IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the community of Staplehurst, Timothy Withey, a 47-year-old man from the village, has been handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of serious sexual offences involving minors and the possession of indecent images of children.On August 4, 2015, officers from Kent Police’s paedophile and online investigation team executed a search warrant at Withey’s residence located on Market Street in Staplehurst.
The operation was part of an extensive investigation into the distribution and possession of indecent images, which uncovered material linked to Withey’s computer.
During the course of the investigation, a young boy came forward to authorities, revealing that he had been sexually assaulted by Withey on two separate occasions.
The assaults reportedly took place in 2008 and 2012, with the victim being only 8 years old at the time of the first incident and 12 during the second.
These revelations added a grave dimension to the case, highlighting the severity of Withey’s actions.
Following the evidence gathered, Withey was formally charged with making indecent images of children and with two counts of sexual assault on a minor.
He was subsequently interviewed by police, during which he admitted to the offences.
His guilty plea was entered at Maidstone Crown Court on December 16, 2015.
On June 29, 2016, Withey was sentenced to four years in prison for his crimes.
In addition to his incarceration, the court imposed a sexual offences prevention order, which aims to restrict his activities and protect the community from further harm.
Withey is also required to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and whereabouts.
