In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Ballincollig, Timothy Kelleher, a 63-year-old man and former soldier, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for a series of heinous crimes committed against his own daughters spanning more than two decades.

The crimes, which took place over a period from 1968 to 1988, involved multiple instances of sexual assault and unlawful acts of a sexual nature.

During the court proceedings, Kelleher pleaded guilty to 16 charges out of a total of 284 listed on the indictment.

These charges included six counts of unlawful carnal knowledge of one of his daughters, as well as five counts of unlawful carnal knowledge and five counts of rape involving his second daughter.

The offenses were committed at six different addresses within the Ballincollig area, highlighting a prolonged period of abuse that has left a lasting scar on the victims and the community.
