Brentwood Child Sexual Abuser
Timothy Brown, aged 36 and residing in Brentwood, has been sentenced to over eight years in prison after he pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activities with a minor. The investigation into Brown’s actions was initiated by Essex Police’s Child Sexual Exploitation team in June 2023, following disturbing allegations made against him.
The authorities acted swiftly, and Brown was subsequently arrested in October 2023. Initially, he faced a total of 15 charges, which included a range of sexual offences involving a child. As the case progressed, the charges were refined and amended, leading to a more specific set of accusations. These included two counts of meeting a child following sexual grooming, two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activities, as well as charges of sexual activity with a child and sexual assault. Additionally, drug-related charges were brought against him, further complicating his legal situation.
The case was brought before Chelmsford Crown Court on January 13, 2025, where Timothy Brown admitted to the charges against him. His guilty plea resulted in a sentence of five years in prison for the sexual offences involving the child. Furthermore, he received an additional six weeks for the drug production charges, which will run concurrently with his primary sentence.
Due to the severity and nature of his crimes, Brown is also subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. This legal restriction prohibits him from contacting girls under the age of 16, aiming to prevent any further harm or contact with minors.
The victim, who endured abuse at Brown’s hands, expressed her relief and gratitude towards the police for their efforts in securing justice. She stated, “Thank you for making me feel safe. I’ve struggled for a long time with this and now, in effect, it’s over.” Her courage in coming forward was instrumental in bringing Brown to justice.
Lead investigating officer, PC Eleanor Rutherford, praised the victim’s bravery and emphasized the importance of her support in the case. She assured the public that Brown, now behind bars, is a dangerous offender whose actions have been effectively addressed. Rutherford concluded by stating, “Their support has ensured a very dangerous offender is now behind bars and the public is safeguarded from him.”
