YOUNG MAN CAUGHT WITH OVER 1,500 INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN HANDED COMMUNITY ORDER
Thomas Williams, a 20-year-old resident of Armscott Road in Wyken, has received a formal sentence after admitting to possessing more than 1,500 indecent images of children.
The court heard that Williams pleaded guilty to three counts of making, which includes downloading, a total of 1,511 images.
The images were categorized into different severity levels: 372 were classified as category A, the most serious, while 285 fell under category B and 854 were in category C.
During the proceedings at the magistrates' court, the court confirmed Williams's admission of guilt and outlined the nature of the images involved.
His sentence included a 12-month community order that features a 90-day rehabilitation program.
Furthermore, Williams must register as a sex offender for five years and is subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
An £85 victim surcharge was also imposed, which will be directed to charities supporting crime victims.
