ABERDEEN MAN USED SUICIDE THREATS TO RAPE WOMEN AND ABUSE PARTNERS
Thomas Wade, 26, sobbed as he was led off to prison after being found guilty by a jury at the High Court in Aberdeen.Wade, of Bucksburn, was convicted of using threats of suicide to coerce and rape women, as well as abusing partners.
His crimes spanned various addresses across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and other parts of Scotland.
The jury found Wade guilty by majority of raping one woman and coercing her into sex by threatening to harm himself if she refused.
He also raped another woman and forced her to participate in sexual activities against her will using similar threats.
Wade repeatedly made suicidal threats to control the women, bombarding them with texts and calls if they didn't comply.
He pushed one woman onto a bed and behaved aggressively toward her, while also exposing himself to another woman for sexual gratification and distressing her, including carrying out a sex act during a video call.
He further threatened to kill himself and claimed access to ropes and a knife.
Wade assaulted one woman by striking her on the head with a key and tried to control another's social activities, leading to a final conviction for serious sexual offences.
Wade sobbed as he was led away and will be sentenced next month.
The judge, Andrew Miller, remanded Wade in custody, stating: “These charges amount to a very serious course of behaviour and sexual offending – the crime of rape is especially serious.
Because rape is so serious I am unable to grant bail.” Wade is now subject to sex offender notification requirements.
