FARMER THOMAS SKYRME CONVICTED OF DOG NEGLECT - BBC NEWS
Thomas Skyrme, 73, of Eastfield Farm, Wiston, was convicted of causing his 13-year-old border collie, Barker, unnecessary suffering after failing to get treatment for severe injuries sustained in a fight.
The Scottish SPCA welcomed the conviction, noting Skyrme's failure to take Barker to a vet immediately after the injury which left most of the dog's right ear missing and head covered in deep scratches.
He was admonished at Lanark Sheriff Court, and ownership of the dog was transferred to his estranged wife with the condition it is not returned to him.
