TWO JAILED FOR CHILD PORN LIBRARY

A former vicar and a campaigner advocating for the rights of paedophiles have been sentenced to prison after authorities uncovered an extensive collection of child pornography at the previous vicar’s residence in Surrey.

Authorities found nearly 50,000 images, including magazines, videos, and slides, concealed within a hidden vault located in the country house.

Michael Studdert, aged 67, who served as a minister, received a four-year prison sentence after admitting to producing indecent images.

Thomas O'Carroll, 61, from Warwickshire, pleaded guilty to distributing images of child pornography and was sentenced to two and a half years behind bars.

The collection, which had been assembled over five decades, was discovered when undercover police infiltrated a group called the International Paedophile Child Emancipation Group and its offshoot, the organization known as Gentlemen with an Interesting Name.

Both groups supported the legalization of sexual contact between adults and children.

Police authorities revealed that O'Carroll regarded these groups as part of an "international secret society" of "academic" child abusers.

During the hearing at Middlesex Crown Court, Judge Roger Chapple described the vault, located in a house on a 17-acre estate in Hindhead, as housing one of the largest child pornography collections of its kind.

The evidence indicated that children—mainly boys, some as young as six—had been filmed and photographed while being subjected to rape and torture.

The judge assured the defendants that he would use all available legal means to protect children from sexual abuse, stating, "The law doesn't require or allow me to sentence people for who they are or for their beliefs, no matter how repugnant they may be, or simply for their sexual preferences, however distasteful I find them.

These courts will apply every legal measure to ensure that children are safe from sexual harm." Outside court, Detective Chief Inspector Neil Thompson of the Metropolitan Police’s paedophile unit expressed some disappointment that the men did not face indefinite sentences.

He explained, "I understand the reasons behind the judge’s decisions, although I firmly believe both individuals remain a danger to children.

That said, I think they pose more of a threat to minors abroad, especially since they have traveled extensively outside the UK—particularly to Eastern Europe—and any offending conduct likely occurred overseas." Thompson further described both men as "life-long paedophiles" who were open about their sexual orientation and noted that paedophiles worldwide regarded O'Carroll with admiration.

O'Carroll, who previously worked as a teacher in Coventry during the 1970s, was also the founder of the now-defunct Paedophile Information Exchange.

Both men have prior convictions related to importing images of naked children.
