MAN JAILED FOR EIGHT YEARS FOR CHILD CRUELTY AND COERCIVE BEHAVIOUR
A family has shown bravery in coming forward and speaking out after Thomas Mann, a 45-year-old man from Nursery Road in Stanford-le-Hope, pleaded guilty to multiple offences including child cruelty, coercive and controlling behaviour.Mann was sentenced to eight years in prison at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday 19 February.
He had previously admitted to breaching a non-molestation order during a separate hearing.
Lincolnshire Police have praised the family, emphasizing that “they want victims to know that you don’t need to stay silent and that police will listen.” The police stated that Mann’s crimes had a profound effect on his victim and their family, causing psychological, emotional, and physical harm over several years.
Det Con Kerry Munro, who managed the case, highlighted the bravery of the family and noted that “this case has highlighted the huge impact that coercive and controlling behaviour and cruelty can have on a family.
Emotional and psychological harm can be, and is, as destructive as physical harm.
