STREET MAN TO BE SENTENCED FOR GROOMING AND EXPLICIT MESSAGES TO 14-YEAR-OLD
A 26-year-old man from Street who admitted sending sexually explicit messages to a 14-year-old girl is scheduled to be sentenced by Somerset Magistrates later this month. The police investigated Bremner’s mobile phone after the victim confided in teachers about his contact.
Authorities discovered photographs of sex acts and messages in which he expressed a desire to make a baby with her when she turned 15.
Bremner engaged in online grooming by discussing buying her expensive gifts and falsely claimed he had cancer, exploiting her mother's recent death from a brain tumour.
He pleaded guilty to a charge that between March 31, 2022, and August 22, 2022, he intentionally communicated sexually with a person under 16, including sending explicit images such as a photo of an erect penis.
He also admitted to making sex-related comments about oral sex and her genitals multiple times, during his court appearance at Yeovil.
Prosecutor Andrew Meadows stated that the victim was only 14 when she disclosed Bremner’s inappropriate contact, and the police found content of a sexual nature on his phone, including messages about making a baby, pictures, and discussions of gifts like Apple iPods.
Bremner also fabricated a cancer story to control her, which contributed to the grooming pattern.
He was previously under a community order at Taunton Crown Court until July.
The court plans to keep the case for sentencing, and Bremner is to return on April 29 with a report from the Probation Service.
He has been released on unconditional bail and ordered to register as a sex offender.
