TERRENCE BROWN FROM HENGROVE FACES JAIL FOR MULTIPLE RAPE OFFENSES INVOLVING TEENAGER AND WOMAN
In a case that has shocked the local community of Hengrove, an 86-year-old man named Terrence Brown has admitted to committing multiple sexual offenses involving a teenage girl and an adult woman.The incident, which spans several years, has brought to light disturbing allegations of repeated abuse and has resulted in Brown facing potential imprisonment.
Brown was scheduled to stand trial in July at Bristol Crown Court, where he was expected to face a series of serious charges.
However, in a surprising turn of events, he appeared before the court earlier than planned and entered guilty pleas to several counts of sexual misconduct.
Specifically, Brown admitted to indecently assaulting the teenage girl on six separate occasions, as well as raping her on six occasions.
Additionally, he pleaded guilty to two sexual assaults involving the woman.
Despite these admissions, Brown denied further charges of rape and sexual assault related to the same victims.
Prosecutor Hannah Squire confirmed to the court that the pleas entered by Brown were acceptable and sufficient for the case to proceed.
Defense lawyer Robert Morgan-Jones stated that a basis of plea had been submitted to the court, and he did not request a pre-sentence report, indicating a level of agreement on the case's resolution.
Judge Michael Cullum scheduled the sentencing for June 10.
The upcoming hearing will involve the judge, the prosecution, and members of the public attending Bristol Crown Court.
Due to Brown’s mobility issues, including his use of a mobility scooter, both he and his legal representative will appear via video link from Bristol Magistrates’ Court, which is better equipped to accommodate individuals with disabilities.
The judge addressed Brown directly, emphasizing the seriousness of the case and the likelihood of a custodial sentence.
He stated, “You will be given credit when you are sentenced.
Sentence will be fixed for the 10th of June.
The magistrates’ court is better able to cope with your disability.
You must understand that you will receive a custodial sentence on that day.
Obviously, the sentencing judge will decide how long that sentence should be.” Despite the gravity of the situation, Brown was granted bail and chose not to comment as he left the court premises.
The case continues to draw attention to issues of sexual abuse and the importance of justice for victims, especially in cases involving vulnerable individuals and elderly offenders.
