MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST GIRLS
Update 25/06/2026: A West Sussex man who used social media to groom young girls for sexual abuse has been sentenced to prison.Tarek Miah engaged with the girls online, who remain unnamed in accordance with legal protections.
He pleaded guilty to four counts of raping a girl under 13 years old in the period from 2023 to 2024.
He also posed as a teenage boy to coax a second girl under 13 into sexual acts between 2024 and 2025.
In February, he met two girls in a Midhurst car park, where he detained them in a vehicle before driving away when they alerted their friends.
On June 24, at Portsmouth Crown Court, Miah was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
He must serve a minimum of ten years before becoming eligible for parole, with an additional three-year extended sentence in case of recall.
Miah, formerly living on Littlehampton Road in Salvington, admitted to four rapes involving a girl under 13 during 2023-2024.
He also admitted to two counts of false imprisonment, inciting a minor to engage in penetrative and non-penetrative sexual activity, causing a child to view sexual images, and producing an indecent image of a child.
The court mandated that he register as a sex offender and issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to limit his access to computers and mobile devices, as well as contact with children.

Tarek Miah, 20, of Littlehampton Road in Salvington, has been charged with four counts of rape, causing a child to engage in a penetrative sexual act, causing a child to watch a sexual act, causing a child to engage in a non-penetrative sexual act and false imprisonment.
The charges relate to a report received on February 7 of two teenage girls being kept in a vehicle against their will in Midhurst and a report of non-recent sexual offending involving a girl in the Durrington area, Sussex Police said.
All three victims are being supported by specialist officers.
Miah has been remanded in custody to appear before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 11.
