Rochdale Man Charged Again in Child Exploitation Case

A man named Tahir Rashid, aged 54, has been charged with additional offences as part of an ongoing investigation into 'non-recent child sexual exploitation' in Rochdale. Rashid is currently in remand and awaiting trial after being charged in May 2023 with 13 offences, including rape and penetrative sexual activity with girls under the age of 16. He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 23, in relation to the latest charges. Rashid, of Hudsons Walk, Rochdale, has been further charged by Greater Manchester Police with eight additional offences, which include serious crimes like rape and indecent assault involving a girl under 16. The initial charges against him are set for a trial in September of this year. This case is part of Operation Lytton, the police's effort to combat child exploitation in the area.
