EIGHT MEN CHARGED IN HISTORICAL CHILD SEX GANG INQUIRY
Eight individuals have been formally accused of a total of 34 crimes linked to historic child sexual abuse.The investigation, known as Operation Oak, led to arrests in Wales, England, and Scotland, focusing on allegations of sexual misconduct against women spanning from 1985 to 1996.
Among those charged is 65-year-old Syed Mohammad Ashan Taqvi from Newport, who faces three counts of raping a girl under 16.
All the accused, who are British nationals aged between 54 and 73, are set to appear at Newport Magistrates' Court on July 24.
The charges encompass rape, assisting and encouraging rape, and causing minors to engage in prostitution.
Prosecutors have indicated that there is enough evidence to move forward with the case, highlighting its ongoing nature and affirming the defendants' right to a fair trial.
