ABERDEEN MAN ADMITS NEARLY A YEAR OF DOMESTIC ABUSE INCLUDING SHAKING WIFE LIKE 'RAG DOLL'
A north-east man has pleaded guilty to nearly a year of abusive behavior toward his wife, which included spitting at her and physically shaking her "like a rag doll".Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told how Stuart Wyness, aged 65, engaged in both verbal and physical abuse during the period from July 2019 to May 2020.
Wyness, who works as an electrician, called his wife derogatory names such as "ignorant", "glaikit", and a "useless lump".
The court revealed that he also grabbed her by the neck and threw household items at her, at times fostering an environment of fear within their home.
On one occasion, Wyness threw a knife at her feet.
He also breached a condition not to contact his wife, admitting to engaging in an abusive course of behavior.
The prosecution detailed an incident where Wyness, during an argument over house chores, shook his wife "like a rag doll".
The court further heard that after a night of drinking, Wyness spat in his wife’s face and swore at her, insulting her as "lazy" and "useless".
The defence acknowledged the couple had a long-relationship, but stated that the marriage was now considered irreparable and that Wyness has recognized his actions.
Sheriff Valerie Johnston sentenced him to a community payback order of 150 hours of unpaid work and a 15-month non-harassment order.
Wyness's address was given as River Don Crescent, Bucksburn, Aberdeen.
