STUART MCEWAN FROM GALSTON SENTENCED FOR TWO-YEAR DOMESTIC ABUSE HORROR AGAINST PARTNER CHLOE HOOD

Stuart McEwan, a 26-year-old man from Galston, has been found guilty of subjecting his partner, Chloe Hood, aged 23, to a prolonged and brutal campaign of domestic abuse and psychological torment that lasted over two years. The court heard harrowing details of the abuse, which included acts of physical violence, psychological manipulation, and disturbing acts of cruelty.

During the trial, it was revealed that McEwan’s abusive behavior was not limited to physical assaults. He held a live python directly against Chloe’s face, an act that caused her significant distress and fear. In addition, he forced her to eat a sock, an act intended to humiliate and degrade her further. The court also heard that he inflicted burns on her by scalding her with a radiator, leaving her with visible injuries. In a particularly disturbing incident, McEwan pushed a live locust up her nose, an act that demonstrated the extent of his cruelty and disregard for her well-being.

Furthermore, McEwan’s controlling behavior extended to preventing Chloe from seeing her dying mother. Court proceedings detailed how he would manipulate her, making her quit her jobs and even driving her to the hospital to stop her from visiting her mother in her final days. Despite his abusive actions, McEwan was often apologetic afterward, attempting to make amends with expensive gifts or trips, which he used as a way to placate her temporarily. However, these gestures did little to mask the ongoing violence and control he exerted over her.

Chloe Hood eventually decided to escape the cycle of violence, describing their relationship as initially promising but gradually turning possessive and controlling. The court heard that McEwan’s violence included repeatedly punching, kicking, slapping, and restraining her against a radiator. He also damaged her clothing and exerted financial control over her, further tightening his grip. Phone records presented during the trial showed that McEwan made a staggering 3,748 calls and sent 1,749 texts during their relationship, highlighting the extent of his obsessive monitoring and control.

McEwan admitted to the charges against him, which led to his sentencing. The court sentenced him to 27 months in prison for his actions, emphasizing the severity of his crimes and the impact on Chloe Hood’s life.
