PAEDOPHILE CAUGHT WITH DOZENS OF INDECENT PHOTOGRAPHS OF CHILDREN
A court has heard how a paedophile caught with dozens of indecent photographs of children as young as three had tried to create a moving image from them.Stuart Brooks will now have to register as a sex offender for the next ten years but avoided immediate custody.
Sentencing him to 15 months imprisonment suspended for two years at Bradford Crown Court, Mr Recorder Ciaran Rankin told him: “Your behaviour as assessed shows you to be extremely interested in child pornography, and you were very heavily involved in this dismal world.” The court heard how police visited Brooks’ home in December 2022 after receiving information that indecent images had been linked to him, and seized a laptop computer, a mobile phone, and a kindle.
Investigations revealed the presence of approximately 80 still images in various categories including one in Category A, the most serious, across a 10-month period between March 2022 and January 2023.
Some of the pictures showed children as young as three.
Brooks, 52, of Sandfield Road, Idle, gave “no comment” answers during two police interviews.
He later pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children in advance of a trial.
The court also heard he had six previous convictions for 11 offences but none for similar behaviour.
Recorder Rankin said: “All of the images were still, but you had put some work into trying to create a moving image from those still images.
“If you can accumulate expensive technology … in order to access the kind of material that you have, then you can pay the costs incurred.” Brooks was ordered to pay court costs of £1,630 plus the victim surcharge, undertake 30 rehabilitation activity requirements days, and was made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order until further order.
Recorder Rankin also made a deprivation order for the equipment seized.
