Stuart Andrews has been found guilty of the murder of his wife, Caroline Andrews, at their residence in Benenden, Kent.
During proceedings at Maidstone Crown Court, he admitted to the crime.
The victim, a 52-year-old educator working as a supply teacher, died as a result of neck compression after a confrontation during a fight that Andrews acknowledged became excessive.
He received a life sentence with a minimum term of 15 years.
Andrews also admitted to embezzling £267,096 from his father-in-law, Donald Breeds, who suffers from dementia and was under Andrews' power of attorney.
Court reports described how Andrews strangled Caroline in their bedroom, falsely told their children she was unwell, then fled the scene.
His arrest followed a manhunt involving armed officers.
Additionally, he left a note expressing remorse and stating he could not continue living, marking the tragic end of a violent incident and subsequent imprisonment.
