Hemel Hempstead Child Sexual Abuser
In December 2016, Steven Young, a 35-year-old resident of Ninian Road in Hemel Hempstead, was convicted of serious sexual offenses involving a young girl and the possession of hundreds of indecent images of children. The case was heard at St Alban’s Court, where the jury found Young guilty of one count of sexual assault on a girl under the age of 13, as well as the possession and distribution of indecent images of children.

According to court reports, Young, who was employed at Gist, was discovered with a vast collection of explicit images depicting children as young as four years old. Some of these images were classified as the most severe category, illustrating young children being subjected to sexual acts, including rape. The evidence also revealed that Young possessed other extreme pornography involving both animals and humans engaged in sexual activities.

Throughout the trial, Young displayed no remorse for his actions. A probation report presented to the court highlighted his refusal to acknowledge any wrongdoing or express remorse, and it suggested that he showed no intention of changing his behavior in the future. The judge, addressing Young directly, condemned his actions, stating, “There are no other words to describe you, but a paedophile.”

As a result of his conviction, Young was sentenced to 12 months in prison, with an actual custodial period of six months to be served. Additionally, he was placed under a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his activities and contact related to children. Furthermore, Young is required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and compliance with legal restrictions.

In May 2017, it was announced that Young would be released from prison within the upcoming days. However, he has been issued an exclusion zone that prohibits him from entering Hemel Hempstead, the town where he resides and committed his offenses. This measure aims to protect the community from any potential risk posed by his presence following his release.
