FORMER SOLDIER STEVEN WILLIAMS JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AFTER ONLINE CHATS
A lorry driver wanted sex with a 14-year-old girl and to be her "perv uncle", a court has heard.Former solider Steven Williams talked about having sex with the child with someone he believed was her father but was in fact an online undercover police officer.
Sending the 51-year-old to prison, a judge at Cardiff Crown Court said a pre-sentence report had concluded that Williams was a dangerous offender and that his "sexual preference for pre-pubescent females" is "unmanageable" in the community.
The court heard that in January 2024 an undercover officer, operating on the Fetlife website, posted a message in the taboo roleplaying section seeking someone to "join dad-daughter exploitation".
Williams responded and the exchanges lasted about 46 days.
He referred to "teen rape toy", sought girls aged around 14 who were "easily trainable", and expressed desire to be the daughter's "perv uncle".
Williams stated he wanted to have sex with a 14-year-old girl and talked about being her "perv uncle".
Williams, of St Alban's Road, Tynewydd, had previously been convicted of arranging or facilitating a child sex offence.
He has no prior convictions.
His lawyer, Nick Gedge, stated Williams had not initiated contact and was not involved in travel or hotel arrangements.
Williams served in the Army before becoming a HGV driver, and there are references from his employer and his former wife, with whom he maintained a platonic relationship.
Judge Richard Kember highlighted a pre-sentence report deeming Williams a dangerous offender with an unmanageable sexual preference for pre-pubescent females.
He was sentenced to 45 months in prison, serving half in custody and the remainder on license, and he will be registered as a sex offender for life and subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
