DRUNKEN MAN ASSAULT AND DAMAGES HIS PARTNER LEADING TO SUSPENDED SENTENCE AND RESTRAINING ORDER
A man named Steven Tinkler from Windermere Avenue, Easington Lane, Houghton-le-Spring, has been involved in a domestic violence incident where he left his partner with visible injuries, including cuts and bruises, after attacking her during a drunken rage.
The incident occurred following issues at a family wedding.
Tinkler assaulted his partner by kicking and punching her when she tried to ask him to leave her home.
He caused damage to her property, smashing two televisions and other belongings, amounting to over £2,000 in damages.
According to court reports, he dragged her by her hair back into the house, and then continued attacking her by kicking her in the back and stomach, pushing her to the floor, and smashing objects at her.
The woman managed to escape and flee the area.
Tinkler pleaded guilty to charges of assault causing actual bodily harm and criminal damage on November 25 of the previous year.
During sentencing at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court, Judge Helen Cousins sentenced him to 26 weeks in custody, suspended for 12 months, and ordered him to pay £1,000 in compensation.
The court also imposed a two-year restraining order, ordered Tinkler to attend 40 days of rehabilitation activities, and complete 180 hours of unpaid work.
Tinkler expressed remorse, stating, “There is nothing that I can say that can change what I did – I regret what I did.
There has been no contact between us since.
If I could apologise to her I would.”
