Livingston Sexual Abuser
A man responsible for a series of severe sexual assaults against multiple women over a span of more than twenty years has been formally sentenced to prison. Steven Noon, whose criminal activities stretched across various locations in Scotland, was handed a sentence of 16 years and six months at the High Court in Livingston.
Throughout his criminal career, Noon subjected four victims to brutal sexual assaults, with his offending pattern extending from September 1990 to September 2021. His crimes took place in several towns and cities, including Edinburgh, Tranent, Haddington, Ormiston, and Gourdon in Aberdeenshire, illustrating a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior across different communities.
The conviction was secured on December 19 of the previous year, following a lengthy investigation that uncovered the extent of his offending. The court heard how Noon’s actions inflicted lasting trauma on his victims, and his sentencing aims to serve justice for those affected.
Detective Inspector Ben Leathes, who is based at Dalkeith CID, expressed his sentiments regarding the case, stating, “I hope the sentencing today provides some measure of closure for the victims of Steven Noon and gives confidence to anyone who is experiencing, or who has experienced abuse to come forward, knowing that we will do everything we can to arrest the perpetrators and achieve justice.”
He further emphasized the importance of reporting abuse, saying, “Sexual abuse of any kind has no place in our society and any reports made to Police Scotland will be robustly investigated. If you are experiencing abuse, or know someone who is, please contact us directly or through our partner agencies. We will take action, no matter the timescale.”
