KINGSEAT MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING PARTNER WITH DEADLY GRIP
A Kingseat man has been sentenced after seizing his partner by the neck and holding her against a wall.
Steven Hamill, 37, of Greenacres, assaulted his partner at a property in Lochgelly on July 13, 2025.
The pair had been drinking at a golf club when an argument broke out between them.
Hamill's partner had told him to go home, but he followed her back to the address, where they continued to argue.
She slapped Hamill in the face and asked him to leave and he then grabbed her by the throat.
At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, his defence solicitor said that Hamill 'fully accepts his responsibility' and would engage fully with the court, including any unpaid work.
Sheriff Gilchrist gave Hamill a community payback order with 80 hours of unpaid work, discounted from 120, to be completed within 12 months.
He also made a non-harassment order.
'You don’t have a history of domestic abuse, this may have been the first time, I certainly hope it was the last time, you accept as you did from the very beginning that you shouldn’t have reacted the way you did,' Sheriff Gilchrist added.
