2017: REDDITCH MAN STEVEN CHINN FACES JAIL OVER SEXUAL ABUSE AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASES
In December 2016, a man from Redditch named Steven Chinn, aged 36, found himself in serious legal trouble after admitting to multiple charges related to sexual misconduct and possession of illegal material. The case was heard at Worcester Crown Court, where Chinn pleaded guilty to several serious offenses involving a minor.
Chinn was accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl, with the incidents occurring over a period from December 1 of the previous year to April 1 of the current year.
The court documents revealed that at least one of these encounters took place inside a motor vehicle, highlighting the clandestine nature of the offenses.
In addition to the sexual misconduct, Chinn also confessed to supplying the girl with cannabis, a controlled substance, and administering a psychoactive drug with the apparent intent of facilitating sexual activity.
These actions underscore a pattern of predatory behavior and exploitation.
Furthermore, the court heard that Chinn was involved in possessing and distributing illegal material.
He admitted to two counts related to child pornography, which are considered among the most serious crimes involving exploitation and abuse of minors.
Additionally, he confessed to possessing material depicting extreme pornography, including sex with animals, which is widely condemned and illegal under current laws.
Judge Nicholas Cartwright, presiding over the case, ordered a pre-sentence report to assess Chinn’s background and potential risk factors.
While granting him conditional bail, which included an electronically monitored curfew, the judge issued a stern warning that a custodial sentence was highly likely given the gravity of the offenses.
Chinn is scheduled to return to court on January 5 of the following year for sentencing, where the full extent of his punishment will be determined.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about the exploitation of minors and the importance of rigorous legal action to combat such heinous crimes.
