STEVE CASTLE FROM PERIVALE JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND ONLINE PERVERSION

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Perivale, Steven Castle, aged 41, has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in child exploitation and online child pornography activities. The court heard how Castle, a former Scout leader, exploited his position of trust to prey on a young boy and engage in the distribution of illicit images.

According to court proceedings, Castle lured a nine-year-old Cub Scout into his bedroom under the pretense of giving him 'computer lessons.' Once inside, he began to bombard the boy with images of child pornography, a heinous act that highlights the severity of his misconduct. The court was also informed that Castle exchanged photographs of young boys, aged between eight and ten, dressed in Scout uniforms, in return for explicit images depicting children in sexual acts. This exchange of images was part of a broader online network of perverts, which Castle actively participated in.

Judge Peter Jackson, presiding over the case at Southwark Crown Court, sentenced Castle to four years in prison. In his remarks, the judge emphasized the betrayal of trust involved in Castle’s actions, stating, “You were not as close to the heart of the network as far as computer images are concerned but you abused your position as a Scout master by swapping images of those children with others.”

The court heard that Castle encouraged the young boy to engage in online chats with other paedophiles, who traded and shared indecent images. Prosecutor Hugh Davies revealed that Castle impersonated a 15-year-old named Ryan in internet chat rooms, claiming to be in a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy. Under a different alias, he also traded explicit images of children being coerced into sexual acts.

Mr. Davies further explained that Castle was aware of the nature of the images being circulated and that he facilitated contact between the boy and individuals who possessed and distributed high-level indecent images of children. The investigation uncovered Raymond McDonagh, aged 42, as the primary collector of these images. McDonagh is currently serving a ten-year sentence for possessing approximately 12,000 lurid images and 2,000 video clips on his home computer.

Castle admitted to seven counts of making indecent images of a child, five counts of distributing such images, and two counts of possession. His defense lawyer, John William, described Castle as a “pathetic individual” and urged the court to see him with “disgusted pity,” citing the mental state that led to his actions.

As part of his sentence, Judge Jackson confiscated Castle’s computer and imposed a lifelong ban on him working with children or participating in internet chat rooms. Castle received a total of 14 sentences, ranging from two to four years, all to run concurrently. Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and preventing further harm to children.
