STEVE ADAMS FROM TIBENHAM SENTENCED FOR GROOMING TEENAGE GIRLS IN NORWICH

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the local community, Steven Adams, a 26-year-old resident of Pristow Green Lane, Tibenham, was found guilty of grooming multiple teenage girls through social media platforms. The court proceedings revealed a pattern of predatory behavior that spanned over two years, involving attempts to manipulate and exploit young girls for sexual purposes.

According to evidence presented at Norwich Crown Court, Adams initially made contact with a 14-year-old girl via Facebook. He sent her messages that explicitly encouraged her to engage in sexual activities, a clear attempt to groom her for abuse. The girl, recognizing the inappropriate nature of his messages, chose to block him, but the damage had already been done. His actions did not stop there.

Further investigations uncovered that Adams also reached out to a 15-year-old girl on Facebook, sending her text messages in which he explicitly asked for sexual encounters. His predatory behavior extended to even younger victims, as he made sexual advances towards an 11-year-old girl and directed sexually explicit comments at a 13-year-old girl. These actions demonstrated a disturbing pattern of targeting vulnerable minors and attempting to manipulate them into sexual activity.

Prosecutor Jude Durr described Adams’ conduct as grooming behavior, emphasizing that he used social media as a tool to conceal his true intentions. Durr stated, “He used social media to cloak himself in the disguise of a friend,” highlighting the deceptive tactics employed by Adams to gain the trust of his young victims.

During the trial, it was established that Adams’ offending took place between 2013 and 2014. His actions led to his conviction on charges of inciting girls under the age of 16 to engage in sexual activity. The court heard how his behavior had a profound and lasting impact on the victims, who were described as vulnerable and deeply affected by his manipulations.

Judge Maureen Bacon, presiding over the case, sentenced Adams to six years in prison. She also ordered that he be placed on the sex offender’s register for life, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community. In her remarks, the judge characterized Adams as a “determined sexual predator,” underscoring the calculated nature of his offending and the need for stringent measures to protect the public from individuals like him.
