OFFENDER UPLOADS CHILD ABUSE VIDEOS ON SOCIAL MEDIA, COURT HEARS
Steve Jennings, 34, of Gleann Petit Park, Mullingar, Co.
Westmeath, pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing child sex abuse materials from February 15-20th, 2024.
The offences are punishable by 5 and 14 year sentences, respectively.
The court heard Jennings uploaded child sex abuse videos to Kik 15 times over the five days, including clips showing sexual abuse of children as young as eight.
Gardaí seized his phone and found the offending material.
Jennings, who is on bail, has no prior convictions and has been attending psychotherapy.
He also engaged in exchanges of explicit messages and expressed a preference for teens.
The sentencing was adjourned for a risk assessment until May, with Jennings providing an apology letter.
He cited involvement during Covid lockdown and noted never to have paid for the material.
