REDDITCH MAN STEPHEN WRIGHT ESCAPES JAIL AFTER HORRIFIC CHILD AND ANIMAL PORN DISCOVERY
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Redditch, Stephen Wright, aged 37, was found to possess an extensive collection of illegal and highly disturbing material involving child exploitation and bestiality.The case came to light in August 2016 when authorities uncovered a vast array of illicit images and videos stored on his personal devices.
Wright had meticulously organized these illegal files into folders, each labeled with specific ages and characteristics of the children depicted, indicating a disturbing level of premeditation and categorization.
Court proceedings revealed that he possessed over 11,000 images of child pornography, along with 125 videos, a significant portion of which fell into the most severe and depraved categories.
Additionally, authorities discovered 160 extreme pornographic images and five videos involving sexual acts with animals, further highlighting the severity of his offenses.
The police investigation was initiated after officers seized a laptop and a memory stick from Wright’s residence in Redditch, where he was living as a lodger.
The devices contained searches for terms such as “under age girls for sale” and “nudist children,” indicating his active pursuit of illegal content.
The images and videos were stored in folders with labels like “ages 12-17,” “13 and over,” “15-year-old black girls,” and “blondes,” reflecting a disturbing interest in specific demographics.
During police interviews, Wright admitted to being bisexual and expressed that his primary interest was in teenage girls.
He also engaged in online chat room discussions centered around incest and posted explicit images of himself in various states of undress, including one where he was dressed in nappies.
His online activities included pretending to be a teenage girl, further demonstrating his manipulative and predatory behavior.
Wright pleaded guilty to possessing nearly 11,500 images downloaded from 2014 onwards.
His online searches and organized folders underscored the extent of his illegal activities.
Despite the gravity of his offenses, the court was informed that he had been employed for the past six years at a company specializing in making locks and latches.
However, he faced an investigation at work that threatened his employment, and his defense argued that a prison sentence could jeopardize his livelihood.
A pre-sentence report indicated that Wright posed a low risk of re-offending, which influenced the court’s decision.
Because of this assessment, he was deemed ineligible for a three-year group sex offenders’ rehabilitation program and would not receive any treatment during his short custodial sentence.
Judge Daniel Pearce-Higgins, QC, acknowledged the unusual nature of the case, particularly due to the large number of images classified in the most serious category.
He noted that Wright appeared to have become “pre-occupied” with the internet, actively searching for illegal images and participating in chat rooms.
Ultimately, the judge sentenced Wright to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, accompanied by a supervision order and a requirement for rehabilitation.
Additionally, Wright was ordered to pay £540 towards court costs, marking a cautious approach by the court given the severity of the crimes committed.
