STEPHEN PARKER, 43, WHO HAS BEEN JAILED FOR FOUR YEARS
She described Parker as someone who would “start to put me down, and make me question things, and he’d make me feel like I wasn’t good enough and compare me to others from his past.” However, after experiencing a frightening event, Claire realized that she needed to make a change.“I knew I couldn’t keep going when he pulled out a knife and tried to get me to stab him with it.
He also held the knife above his mouth, and I thought, if he drops it, I might end up in prison myself, and I can’t let that happen to my children.” Hailing from Brackla, Bridgend, Claire began recording Parker’s actions on her phone and collected enough evidence to report him to the authorities.
She explained: “I told him I would record him and report him to the police, but that didn’t stop him.
Without proof, it becomes your word against theirs, which makes it really difficult because you start questioning yourself.” Parker, 43, who does not have a fixed address, has been sentenced to four years in prison for three counts of assault causing bodily harm, one count of sexual assault, and one count of controlling and coercive behavior.
Having received his sentence, Claire has spoken publicly and waived her anonymity to encourage others that they too can come forward.
