STEPHEN NESTOR FROM TUXFORD ESCAPES PRISON AFTER DOWNLOADS OF OVER 5,000 CHILD SEXUAL IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the community of Tuxford, Stephen Nestor, a 50-year-old resident of Birch Court, found himself in court facing serious allegations related to the possession of a vast collection of illegal images. The incident, which spanned several years, involved the download and accumulation of a staggering total of 5,598 sexual images depicting children, a crime that has drawn significant attention from law enforcement authorities.According to court records, Nestor also admitted to possessing a separate category B video featuring a child, adding to the severity of his charges. The offences were committed over a period stretching from 2013 to 2020, indicating a prolonged period during which Nestor engaged in these illegal activities. Magistrates described the case as involving multiple victims, emphasizing the disturbing nature of the offence.
Despite the gravity of the charges, Nestor was not sentenced to immediate imprisonment. Instead, he received a 26-week prison sentence, which was suspended for two years. This means that Nestor will not serve time in prison unless he commits another offence within that period. As part of his sentence, he is required to participate in rehabilitation programs aimed at addressing his conduct.
Furthermore, the court imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that will remain in effect for seven years. This order places strict restrictions on Nestor’s use of electronic devices capable of accessing the internet. Specifically, he is prohibited from using any device that can retain and display browsing history unless it is available for inspection by police officers or authorized representatives. He is also barred from deleting any internet history, ensuring transparency in his online activities.
In addition, Nestor is forbidden from using the internet to contact or attempt to contact anyone under the age of 18, unless they are his own children. The order also restricts him from possessing any device capable of storing digital images unless he makes it available for inspection upon request. He is not allowed to install encryption or wiping software on any device other than those necessary for its basic operation.
Finally, the court ordered Nestor to pay a fine of £165, a relatively small amount compared to the seriousness of his offences, but one that underscores the legal consequences of his actions. The case highlights ongoing concerns about online child exploitation and the importance of vigilant law enforcement efforts to combat such crimes, especially in communities like Tuxford where residents are now grappling with the implications of this disturbing case.
