HULL MAN CONVICTED OF CHILD RAPE AND FIREARM POSSESSION IN BRUTAL COURT CASE
A man named Stephen Jewitt, aged 53, has been convicted of serious sexual abuse of a young girl and was sentenced to 11 years at Hull Crown Court after a six-day trial.The court heard how Jewitt held a piece of wood to his victim's throat and told her 'my country would love you'.
During the attack, he also pulled her top over her head so he would not have to look at her while raping her.
The girl pleaded with him to let her go, but he told her he liked it and that she was 'not the only girl who was going to get punished'.
After the assault, he also made threatening statements, saying he would kill her if she told anyone.
Despite his denial of any wrongdoing, the jury took just 35 minutes to convict him of buggery and indecency with a child.
The judge sentenced Jewitt to 11 years, and he was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
In addition, Jewitt was found guilty of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence after police examined a weapon he took from his home, which was in good condition and contained cartridges he claimed to have put there months ago.
The case also involved a horrifying incident where Jewitt, during a confrontation, threatened and made offensive remarks about the victim, claiming he was connected to a paedophile ring and Freemasonry.
The judge described his conduct as 'outrageous' and 'bizarre,' and he was jailed for 11 years.
The authorities have expressed concern over the severity and dangerous nature of his actions.
His background includes previous convictions for violence, and he had been detained for seven months on remand before sentencing.
His planned move to Scotland has been noted, with warnings that his behavior could pose ongoing risks.
