Hythe Sexual Abuser
Stephen Boyt, a 70-year-old man from Beech Crescent, Hythe, has been sentenced to twenty years in prison at Southampton Court for a series of historic abuse cases. He faced nine counts, including indecent assault and one count of rape. A jury convicted him of abuse that occurred across Netley View, Calshot, and Fawley between 1984 and 1996.
During a police interview played to the jury in November, the victim was seen sobbing and clutching a tissue. She recounted how Boyt would demand oral sex from her when she was a teenager. Struggling to contain her emotions, she stated, "he told me no one would believe my claims that he had abused me."
The court heard she finally reported the abuse in August 2018 after experiencing a breakdown. The victim’s testimony highlighted the emotional trauma she endured.
Boyt's criminal record dates back to 1967, with previous convictions for burglary, blackmail, robbery, and actual bodily harm (ABH). Despite this extensive criminal history, he had no prior convictions for sexual offenses and maintained his innocence, vigorously denying the charges.
He will serve his sentence and, upon release, will be subject to supervision through a life license.
