SIMON WOODS FROM WOOLWICH SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AFTER ONLINE GROOMING PLOT
In September 2018, Simon Woods, a 43-year-old resident of Woolwich, found himself at the center of a serious criminal case involving online sexual misconduct.Woods was apprehended after a paedophile hunting team, known as Team KKS, successfully identified and caught him in the act of attempting to groom a minor through digital communication.
Woods appeared before the court to face multiple charges related to his inappropriate online behavior.
During the proceedings, he pleaded guilty to several sexual offences, acknowledging his misconduct.
The court was informed that Woods had initiated contact with what he believed to be a 13-year-old child’s online profile.
Over the course of their communication, Woods persistently sent highly sexually explicit messages, which included attempts to manipulate the minor into engaging in masturbation.
The investigation was conducted by Team KKS, operating on behalf of Team Protection for the Innocent, a group dedicated to combating online child exploitation.
Their efforts led to Woods’s arrest and subsequent prosecution.
In sentencing, Woods received a custodial term of 42 months.
Additionally, the court imposed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to restrict his activities and prevent further offending.
He was also placed on the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety measures.
This case highlights the ongoing dangers of online grooming and the importance of vigilant law enforcement and community efforts to protect vulnerable children from predators.
