OFFENDER SIMON WINSTONE JAILED FOR PARTNER DENISE ROSSER'S MURDER
Simon Winstone was convicted of murdering his partner Denise Rosser, 38, in Bedlinog, Merthyr Tydfil.He was ordered to serve a minimum of 18 years in jail.
The court heard that the victim suffered during a prolonged period of domestic abuse, including head and chest injuries with 28 rib fractures.
The judge, Eleri Rees QC, described the injuries as comparable to those from a car crash, stating: "She must have suffered excruciating pain that night." Winstone, 50, had denied the murder, claiming someone else was responsible, and tried to explain her facial injuries as friction burns from sex.
The case revealed a history of violence, including an incident where he pushed her into a bin and locked her out of her house.
Neighbors reported hearing screaming, and the relationship was characterized as tumultuous and volatile.
The court sentenced him to life imprisonment with a minimum of 18 years, with the judge remarking that she believed her injuries were inflicted over several hours of assault.
