2009: BLAKEDOWN MAN WHO SAVAGELY STABBED EX-GIRLFRIEND JAILED
A man from Blakedown has received a 33-month prison sentence after he brutally stabbed his former girlfriend with a kitchen knife and attempted to strangle her friend who was sheltering her at his residence in Stourbridge.Judge Robin Onions addressed Simon Davies, aged 34, highlighting his history of convictions related to violence against women he had been involved with.
The judge emphasized the importance of learning from past actions, warning that future behavior could lead to an even more bleak outlook.
He explained that Davies needed to serve time again because using a knife to inflict injury constitutes a serious offense, especially in light of his established violent record.
Davies had only recently been released from prison when he attacked Tonia Watson, resulting in injuries including a fractured eye socket, a leg stab wound, and a hand cut.
Additionally, Michael Darby was assaulted, suffering severe bruising to his face and neck, as the two victims fought off Davies using household items such as a candlestick, as they desperately tried to defend themselves.
Judge Onions remarked that Davies exhibited sensible behavior when sober but turned violent when intoxicated, describing his alcohol influence as turning him into a markedly different individual.
He observed that Davies' violence was escalating and weapons were increasingly involved, which was concerning given that he harmed people he claimed to care for.
Davies, who resides on Sculthorpe Road in Blakedown, admitted to wounding Miss Watson and assaulting Mr Darby, causing actual bodily harm.
The court heard that his relationship with Miss Watson had ended due to his ongoing drug and alcohol abuse, despite their remaining friends.
During his last visit to her home in Stourbridge, Davies made disturbing comments about death and dying.
Fearing for her safety, Miss Watson called Mr Darby, prompting Davies to make threatening calls before forcibly entering their home and violently attacking both victims.
