SIMON BOWYER SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR ABUSING TEENAGER IN ORTON MALBORNE AND CAMBRIDGE
In a case that has shocked the local community, Simon Bowyer, aged 41, of Medeswell, Orton Malborne, has been handed a significant prison sentence after being convicted of a series of serious sexual offenses involving a teenage girl.The incident spanned over four years, during which Bowyer engaged in inappropriate and illegal sexual activities with the victim, who was between the ages of 13 and 17 at different times.
The court proceedings, held at Cambridge Crown Court in March, revealed that Bowyer was found guilty on eight counts of sexual activity with a female aged between 13 and 17.
The court heard detailed accounts of the abuse, which took place from 2013 to 2017, a period during which the victim was between 12 and 17 years old.
The gravity of the offenses was underscored by the lengthy duration and the vulnerability of the victim.
The case came to light when the victim, in September of the previous year, confided in a friend and a relative about the abuse she had endured.
This disclosure prompted immediate action from law enforcement authorities, leading to an investigation and subsequent charges against Bowyer.
On April 26, Bowyer was formally sentenced to ten years in prison, a punishment reflecting the serious nature of his crimes.
In addition to the custodial sentence, the court imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which aims to restrict Bowyer’s activities and prevent further offenses.
Furthermore, he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from potential future harm.
The sentencing marks a significant step in addressing the abuse and delivering justice for the victim, while also serving as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and intervention in cases of sexual misconduct involving minors.
