A man identified as Simon Arden has been handed a lengthy prison sentence of 14 years following his conviction for a series of serious sexual offences committed against women and children. The sentencing took place at Chester Crown Court on Thursday, April 17, after Arden was found guilty of numerous grave crimes that have left a lasting impact on his victims.

Simon Arden, aged 41 and a resident of Macclesfield, faced a court that heard detailed accounts of his criminal behavior spanning a decade, from 2011 to 2021. The offences for which he was convicted include rape, sexual assault, exposure, sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, engaging in sexual activities in front of a child, and inciting a child under 13 to participate in sexual acts. These allegations paint a disturbing picture of predatory behavior that has caused profound trauma to those affected.

According to police reports released in April 2024, multiple victims came forward to recount their experiences involving Arden. One woman revealed that Arden had sexually assaulted her multiple times during her childhood. She also described incidents where he exposed himself and engaged in sexual acts in her presence, further compounding the severity of his misconduct. Additional victims provided accounts of similar abuse, with one woman stating that Arden raped her in 2013, and also sexually assaulted and exposed himself to her on separate occasions. Another woman recounted an incident in 2016 where Arden exposed himself to her. A teenage girl also came forward, alleging that Arden sexually assaulted her when she was a child, adding to the list of victims affected by his actions.

Following these serious allegations, Arden was promptly arrested and charged with multiple offences. His trial, which lasted two weeks, concluded on February 21 at Chester Crown Court, where the jury found him guilty of all charges. The court's decision to impose a 14-year prison sentence underscores the gravity of his crimes and the harm inflicted upon his victims.

In addition to his incarceration, Arden has been subjected to an indefinite restraining order designed to protect the victims from further contact or harassment. He is also under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to monitor and restrict his behavior to prevent any future offences. The court's sentencing reflects a recognition of the severe and lasting impact of Arden’s actions, emphasizing the importance of justice for those who suffered at his hands.
